Tuesday of the Fifteenth Week in Ordinary Time/ July 14, 2020
Gospel: Matthew 11:20-24
Friends, in today’s Gospel Jesus reproached the towns of Chorazin, Bethsaida, and Capernaum, where most of His mighty deeds had been done, since they had not repented. He threw ‘woes’ at them and were expressing His regret.
We can understand why Jesus expresses regret towards these towns for they themselves resist Divine Graces; they themselves rejected salvation which was offered to them; they themselves did not recognized Jesus’ offering of Himself towards them. And Jesus said, “it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon (places where the Truth was not announced) on the day of Judgment than to them.
Friends, Jesus shows us today that it is dangerous for us to resist Divine Graces and not to make good use of those favorable opportunities which the Divine Providence have placed in us, of working our salvation and of improving ourselves in virtue and sanctity. And if we do resist these Divine Graces; like these towns, JEsus will also tells us, “it will be more tolerable for those people who did not know Me, than for us who always have the opportunity to work out our salvation and sanctification!”
Are we like these towns; Corazin, Bethsaida, and Capernaum? How do we often missed opportunities to do good towards our neighbors? How do we often missed opportunities to witness our faith in Jesus?
God gave us always favors in life. He gave us ‘Golden Opportunities’ in life. He gave us many chances in our life to return back towards Him. Are we still going to miss the opportunity which God Himself offered freely?
Prayer:
Abba, our Loving Father, thank You for all the Divine Graces You have bestowed in our lives. Thank You for sending us Jesus who is our salvation! May we who accepted and believed in Jesus’ Saving action, be faithful always and work out our sanctification. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your SOn, who lives with You in unity with the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever. Amen.
JOURNEY towards the Perfect Communicator 
Indeed. Certain prophecies say that the Antichrist will grow up in that area. If we trust Plato’s testimony, Socrates, who never knew Christ and got his philosophy wrong in quite a few notable areas, died what sounds similar to a martyr’s death. Now plenty of expert theologians might very well be like Chorazin and Bethsaida.
