When you love much…

Gospel: Luke 7:36-50

Friends, our Gospel today speaks about a ‘sinful woman’ who was forgiven by the Lord Jesus because she has shown great love towards the Lord, by being sorrow for her sins and actions. “As the Lord reclined at the table, she stood behind Jesus’ feet, weeping, and bathe Jesus’ feet with her tears. Then, wiped them with her hair, kissed them and anointed them with an alabaster flask of ointment. And Jesus said, “her sins are forgiven…” “Your faith has saved you!”

Her actions and faith moved Jesus to forgive her, her sins. And even, Jesus used it as an example for others, that “God’s forgiveness is an ocean compared to a rocks on the shore of the sea. How big will your sins be, and how many will they be, it is nothing compared to the greatness of God’s love and mercy. But, of course always with a repentant heart. God an work in us, if we cooperate ourselves and let God be God. When we cooperate in His love, God will not hesitate to grant our requests. Like the sinful woman. She was granted forgiveness by the Lord because she was able to accept her being sinful. She was able to repent through her actions. She was able to show great love towards the Lord.

The same also for us. The woman is our example of faith and trust in the Lord. May we, like her, be courageous enough to show our sorrow for sins, and love towards the Lord, everyday.

Prayer

Abba, loving and forgiving Father, thank You everyday for giving us love and forgiveness. We are all sinners Father, and we always rely on YOur Mercy and forgiveness. Please do not tire of forgiving us. We love you. We praise. We thank you. Through our Lord JEsus Christ YOur Son who lives with You in unity of the Holy SPirit, One God forever and ever. Amen.
