Have Faith…

Gospel: Matthew 17:14-20

Friends in today’s Gospel Jesus cured a boy who was a lunatic. This boy often falls into fire and into water. He really suffers severely. The father came towards Jesus knelling before Him for a cure, because the disciples could not drove out the demon and cure the boy. Then, after curing the boy Jesus answered His disciples in private why they were not able to drive out the demon; “it is because of their little faith!’”

Faith is always necessary when we do the will of God. Jesus expects our faith when we do our mission. Because when we have faith, Jesus said, we can move mountains and can uproot trees to be transferred into the sea. This means that we can do miracles and wonders if we do have faith. The healing of the boy was because of faith. Jesus’ healing power together with the humble cries of the father with his faith heals the boy and drove out the demon.

This is also an invitation for us today. If we do the mission of the Lord, we must never do it without faith. Faith is necessary.

Prayer

Abba, Father increase our faith in You. Give us always perseverance especially in our prayer.  May we able to help those who need most of our help. Through our Lord Jesus Christ Your Son who lives with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God forever and ever. Amen.
