Gospel: Mt. 14:22-36
Friends, in today’s Gospel the disciples, met Jesus on the sea. They saw Him walking on the water. Unfortunately, they thought of Him as a ghost, which is why they were terrified. But the Lord said, consoling them, to “take courage; and do not be afraid because it is Him!”
There are many instances in our life when we are afraid and terrified. Not only because we are seeing gray areas, but afraid of what will happen to us if we push ourselves through; if we pursue our decisions. Like Peter and other disciples. Although, Peter knew that it was the Lord, seeing and experiencing the big waves and strong winds he forgot Him and wavered in his faith. He forgot that he has God with him, protecting him, journeying with Him, and ready to rescue him.
The same situation is also in our lives. When we are terrified, we forget everything. We forget the Lord. We forget that He is with us always; giving us strength to move on, protecting and guiding us. However, even though how many times we falter, commit mistakes, and sink in the depths of the waters, the Lord will always be there for us. He will extend His hands to rescue and pull us up again. He will lift us up no matter what! We just need to take courage and not be afraid.
Prayer
Abba, our Loving Father, thank You for sending us the Lord as our Savior. May we always learn to call Him in times of trouble and every day in our lives. Through our Lord Jesus Christ Your Son, who lives with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.
