Be a Prophet of Truth

August 29, 2022/ Monday of the 22nd Week in Ordinary time

Gospel: Mark 6:17-29

Friends, today the Church honors St. John the Baptist as a martyr. He died beheaded, not in imitation of Jesus Christ but in anticipation of the death of Christ. Since he was preparing the way of the Lord Jesus Christ by repentance and proclamation of God’s Kingdom, there is no doubt that He died for Christ. He became witness to our Redeemer by standing for what is the Truth. He shed his blood for the Truth. He shed his blood for Christ, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
His life and death brought us today a prophetic message – to ‘defend the truth about Marriage!’ He reminds us to become prophets who defend Marriage at all cost. To defend ‘Marriage’ according to the plan of God. This is how he also prepares the way of the Bridegroom and the Bride, who is the Church.

Friends, may we also defend the Truth about Marriage at all cost, even to the point of death like John the Baptist. This is the way of the martyrs. The way of those who love God and His Truths.

Prayer
Abba, help us to become channels of Your Truth. May we also defend life and Marriage at all cost. Through our Lord Jesus Christ Your Son, who lives with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.
