Remain always in Christ

August 30, 2022/ Tuesday of the 22nd Week in Ordinary Time

Gospel: Luke 4:31-37

Friends, in today’s Gospel, Jesus cured a man with a spirit of unclean demons. He cast away the demons with His power and authority as the Holy One of God. Before, the demons will shout out His identity as the Son of the most High, He rebuked them to be quiet in coming out of the man. And they obeyed without doing him any harm.

We can see in this episode in the life of Jesus that demons have no power over God. This assures us that Satan will no longer over power us because Christ is already victor. Satan will try his best to destroy us, however, we will not be destroyed for Christ is with us always.

If we remain always in Christ we will never be astray and lost. God assures us that through the Holy Spirit we will be able to fight Satan with his minions. God shares us this authority and power by the gift of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, we too can fight and defend lives at all cost from the evil one.

Prayer

Abba, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit in our lives. May we be faithful always to Him and to Your Son so that the power of the evil one may not prevail over us. Through our Lord Jesus Christ Your Son, who lives with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.
