“God cares”

August 31, 2022/ Wednesday of the 22nd Week in Ordinary Time

This photo was taken last February during our retreat in Cagayan De Oro City. The woman in the photo is Daisy who suffered from being mentally challenged last 7 years ago. She was healed by God’s grace, embrace, and His instruments, the Poor Servant Sisters.

Gospel: Luke 4:38-44

Friends, in today’s Gospel, Jesus continues His public ministry through preaching, healing, and proclaiming the Kingdom of God throughout the towns of Judea. Many people were following Him wherever He went; people with various diseases and illnesses, those with disabilities and infirmities. But, the Goodnews is that all were cured by Him through laying-on of His hands on them. And there was a special mention here in the gospel today, the mother-in-law of Simon Peter who was afflicted by a severe fever. What Jesus did, He just stood beside her, rebuked the fever and it left her.

This episode in the life of Jesus shows us a beautiful image of God’s love and care for us. He cures us of our sicknesses and helps us to live life again. He stood always beside us and will never leave us until we come home and enjoy His presence forever.

Prayer

Abba, thank You for giving us Christ as our Healer and Doctor. May we remain healthy always and never sin again. Through the same Christ Your Son, who lives with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.
