Mt 18:12-14 Gospel Reflection

Mt 18:12-14

God does not will that the little ones be lost.
Jesus said to his disciples:
“What is your opinion?
If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray,
will he not leave the ninety-nine in the hills
and go in search of the stray?
And if he finds it, amen, I say to you, he rejoices more over it
than over the ninety-nine that did not stray.
In just the same way, it is not the will of your heavenly Father
that one of these little ones be lost.”

One time I went to Montalban Rizal to visit my uncle (second cousin of my father). I passed marikina city. I did not expect that marikina roads (mostly) are “one way!” I got the wrong way, not going to montalban and was difficult to turn back. I got lost in a while. (I had only my keypad phone, no chance of ways). While being lost I started to ask some people to guide me how to come back and proceed to Montalban. Thanks be to God, I was able to turn back, proceeded to montalban and found my uncles’ house. Pretty Happy😁

Being lost is an experience of sadness, sorrow, uncertainty, guilt, regret, and separation. In spritual realm it is an experience of darkness, so far or separated from God, because of sin. Sin separates us from God. And surely, there is no Joy. But when one reconnects again (his/her relationship) to God or Being found by God. Faithful as He is, will never reject His beloved.

Jesus is surely happy when we go back to him! He rejoices even more than the ninety-nine that was not lost. This is how important we are in the eyes of God. He doesnt wants us to get lost. He wants us to enjoy in His presence.

Heavenly Father, you sent Jesus your only beloved Son for our salvation, grant that we who are following in his footsteps may grow in your love and wisdom, and become shepherds to those whom you love most, the least, the lost and abandoned. Through Jesus Christ, in the Unity of the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever. Amen.
