Gospel: Matthew 19:13-15
Friends, in today’s Gospel Jesus, laid His hands on the children and prayed for them. He scolded the disciples for hindering them to come toward Him.
Every time I read this Gospel; it brings me always to our reality today, particularly in the adult world where children are often for them a kind of nuisance. We could also see this in the reaction of the disciples in the gospel. They tried to stop children to come to the master. They become hindrances for the children to come to Jesus.
The same issue when one chooses abortion. Adults tried to hinder life to be born, to seeing and knowing God. They are trying to level children as a nuisance, and a disturbance to their own comforts. I am really biased when it comes to this issue because if you are going to take the wisdom of the Lord, ‘to let the children come to Him,’ you will understand that Jesus wants us to protect, promote, and choose life always no matter what. So, abortion always goes against God. Reasons for abortion never justify the gift of life which God gave to children.
Prayer
Abba, our Loving Father, You loved us Your children. May we always defend life at all costs, and may we never treat children as a nuisance in society. Through our Lord Jesus Christ Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.
